2010 Assembly Marketplace Coordinator: Ms. Valla Eiriksson

We are very excited about the upcoming Marketplace! The Marketplace Coordinator Valla Eiriksson is a member of All Saints of Alaska Orthodox Church in Victoria, BC. She has extensive experience in retail, retail marketing and advertising, events marketing, and tourism marketing. A professional artist and designer, she owned an art gallery and tourism business on Salt Spring Island for five years before returning to Victoria in 2008. She is also a web designer, and in the past year has produced/developed four major projects for the Orthodox in Victoria, including the Assembly site that you are viewing now.

Vendor listings, products and merchandise, and an artisan showcase are now online: www.archangelmarket.com We also have a Facebook event page.

VENDOR INFORMATION AND GUIDELINES:

The Marketplace will be in a building separate from the Assembly, and this Marketplace will be open to the public. Our vision for the Marketplace is as a place where Christians can meet and enjoy fellowship, and where non-Christians who might otherwise never set foot in a church, can come and experience the beauty and joy of Christianity expressed through art, music and craftsmanship.

Where: Michele Pujol Room on the Plaza, in the Student Union Building at the University of Victoria: 3200+ square feet, high ceiling, glass windows/doors along the side that opens out onto the plaza in front. We are also planning some family-friendly activities, book signings, etc. The Marketplace will be well-advertised locally.

When: Monday through Friday, July 26 - 30, 2010. Our hours  will  12 - 7 pm. We will probably open later on the first day, and close early on the last day, depending on how busy it is on the Friday.

Evening events are planned.

Relief for Vendors: We will provide volunteers to cover for breaks, and volunteers for tables booked by Assembly participants. The Student Union Building has a variety of food and beverage vendors who are open during the day.

Cost for Vendors: $100 per table, for the whole 5 days. (So $20 per table per day.) Tables are 5' long x 2-1/2' wide, and linens and chairs are provided. Vendors keep 100% of their sales, apart from the table cost which is payable before July 1. Electrical outlets are available, but must be pre-ordered. Vendors are responsible for providing their own payment-handling methods; an ATM is available onsite for customers.

Security: Typically, vendors are covered by their own insurance. The room is secure, and locked at night. Security is present at night.

Restrictions: We ask that vendors' work is made by them. We prefer that the artisans be practising Christians but we will review all applications. The work must be of a type and quality that is appropriate for this venue. The exception to the made-by-hand restriction is commercial vendors such as mainstream Christian bookstores, Orthodox publishers and liturgical suppliers.

Please note that due to space limitations and vendor restriction guidelines, not all applications may be accepted. Your application must be accepted by the Marketplace Coordinator prior to submitting payment. Payment for vendor tables is due by July 1, 2010.
